This is an Organization Meeting To Determine Club Interest
We've scheduled the first Adult Learn-to-Sail Class at 1 PM on
Saturday, April 26th. We'll start out in the clubhouse with some
discussion about on-the-water safety, the parts of a sailboat, the
points of sail and how the boat manages to sail into the wind Then
we'll break-up into groups and let you put the basic classroom
instruction to use in a sailboat out on the water. At the end of the
afternoon we will schedule additional small group classes for you
based on your availability. There is no cost for these group
classes. If you'd feel more comfortable with personal instruction,
it's available with our US Sailing Certified Instructors at hourly
rates through Kate Shaw (818 991-2569).
Westlake Yacht Club has an armada of sailboats from 8' Sabots to
Lasers, Capri 14.2s and Catalina 18s that are available for your use
in regattas or just day sailing at your convenience. We urge you to
take advantage of this unique privilege of membership in our club.
Please let me know if you can attend our first Learn-to-Sail class on
April 26th, your sailing experience -- and none is required -- so we
can staff accordingly. We will be scheduling future classes so, if
you can't make it on the 26th, let me know and we will schedule
another initial session in the near future.
